Our Month in Review

Well, what a month (technically a little more than a month, but who the heck is counting?) it has been.  Someone asked me what the date was today and I said September 13th, legitimately believing I was right.  And the only reason I said the 13th is because I knew that September 11th had already passed.  Otherwise, I probably would have said August-something...Because that's where my brain is at these days....back in August somewhere.  Needless to say, I have no clue where all the days went, but they obviously went somewhere because today is September 22nd, ya'll!

Life has certainly been full recently, but we're not complaining.  We moved from Austin and the next weekend headed to the lake with my family.  For as long as I can remember, my family has done at least one lake trip each summer... it's kind of our thing and regardless of what's going on, we get away for a few days and enjoy the water.  Well, this summer nearly got past us thanks to a certain couple in the family that decided to have a child in the middle of the summer and then move a few weeks later.  BUT, we made it happen and got the entire Adams family there...a miracle in-and-of itself.

And this is what you get when you send the women to buy the meat for the weekend.  Yes, this is brisket the length of Dylan's forearm (after one full dinner).  We anticipated having brisket for only one meal  but we ended up having it for several weeks.

Dylan then started classes and a few days later we took off for California to introduce Samuel to his California aunts and uncles and the ocean.  We had a great  weekend with Dylan's family and soaked up the goodness of Newport Beach for a few days.  AND saw so many good friends, which was refreshing and so enjoyable.

A few days after we got home from California, Dylan's grandparents visited.  Grandma and Grandpa were on the backside of their trip across the country.  We were lucky enough to have them stop in  for a couple of nights as they made their trek through.  These two people are really amazing (they drove to Rhode Island and back to the Central Coast).  After their visit, Samuel told me that meeting them was the best thing he'd done in his whole entire life.  But that's our little secret.  I don't want to hurt any feelings:).

After grandma and grandpa left, our good friend Keturah came in for a few days.  We did a whole lot of nothing aside from drinking coffee, laying by the pool, getting massages, and catching up on each others lives.  It was really nice to just relax and be in the company of a close friend for a few days.

And that brings us up to this past weekend.  We went all-out for the Texas Tech vs. University of Texas football game this year and had a blast doing it.  Samuel experienced his first tailgate and attended his very first football game and quickly learned that mom and dad were out of their minds for spending a whole year at UT.  What a great weekend it was.

And so, here we are.  Looking forward to a little down time in the coming weeks but thankful for all the great gifts we've been given in this last month.  So long, Summer... you were good to us.  And hello Fall, it's good to see you!
